Project Details

This project involved installing shade canopies over six existing planters on Aaron Lincoln Davis Square. The work began with the removal of landscaping elements, such as soil and trees, and waterproofing from the planters. Each planter was fitted with a central steel column to support the shade canopy. Steel channels, angles, and anchors were installed to secure these columns.

The scope also included pouring concrete inside the planters, applying hot-applied waterproofing, and finishing with decorative gravel. New bench boards were installed to create seating areas. The project features automated fabric shades that can be controlled either by weather sensors or manually via a mobile device. Additionally, synthetic turf was installed beneath the canopy, providing a comfortable area for students and faculty to relax and enjoy.
