Project Details
The Scholars Lab provides researchers with critical infrastructure, access to UT Libraries, domain-specific expertise, and opportunities for learning, consultation, collaboration, and research presentations to enhance multidisciplinary research and digital scholarship.
QA Construction was appointed as the construction manager to oversee the renovation of approximately 16,500 square feet of the existing Scholars Lab. The renovation aimed to transform the space into a modern, functional facility that would support a range of research and collaborative activities.
The project included the development of a state-of-the-art lab designed to support data research and analysis, equipped with cutting-edge technology and infrastructure. Dedicated spaces for collaboration, meetings, and brainstorming were integrated into the design, each outfitted with advanced audio-visual equipment, whiteboards, and flexible seating arrangements to foster creativity and productivity.
Private and semi-private offices were created for staff and faculty, with a focus on comfort and enhanced workflow. These office areas featured modern furnishings, ergonomic workstations, and integrated communication systems. In addition to the office spaces, both formal and informal meeting rooms were established, ranging from small breakout rooms to larger conference areas. Each of these spaces was equipped with video conferencing technology and presentation tools to support seamless in-person and virtual collaboration.
To meet the lab’s technological demands, new electrical, HVAC, and IT infrastructure were installed. The entire renovation followed a phased construction schedule to minimize disruptions. Daily progress reports, frequent on-site meetings, and continuous updates ensured that the project remained on track and was completed as planned.
